The five lenses that I created on purple widgets have been indexed by Google. This process took a bit longer than I had expected it to, but after submitting the Rss feeds, and bookmarking them at some social sights, Google has decided they are worthy for their search engine.

Now that I have created my 5 lenses and secondly go them indexed into Google now I will move on to the 3rd Step and the beginning of the 3 articles per day for 30 days experiment. I will begin my experiment on June 1st which is tomorrow for me and a couple of days for you all in the U.S.

This experiment will basically just see what type of results as far as sales of purple widgets we will get from Article Marketing using Ezine Articles.  I have a new account at Ezines that has achieved platinum status, and will be using that account to submit my articles.  If some of you would like to know how to get a platinum status on Ezine Articles just leave a comment here. If I have enough interest I will let you all know how to do it the easiest way.

I will give you a weekly update as to how the experiment is going and of course reporting any sales that come about for the promotion of the purple widget lenses.  Also the May Earnings report will be out soon, will I break my last months record, come back and find out.

Just wanted to drop in and say that I have created my 5 squidoo lenses on purple widgets.  Next I will interlink them all together using something similar to a BlogRoll.  In other words purple widgets site 1 site has links to purple widgets 2-5 on it using the keywords for those lenses as my anchor text.

Then I will do the same with purple widgets 2 lens and link to 1,3,4,and 5. After this interlinking is accomplished, I will add the lenses RSS feed to many of the RSS directories.  This will allow Google to index my lens quicker.  Next is the waiting process of getting into Google.

A good way to check and see if your lens has made it into the Google Index is by searching in Google like this: “www.squidoo.com/purplewidgets1″ Make sure you use the quotation marks.  Now we will want to make sure that the actual lens at squidoo is indexed because at first you will get results from the RSS directories. But the URL will be the RSS directory and not your squidoo lens.  Make sure the very bottom url in the google listing is the url of your lens.

I will not do anything else until all 5 of my lens are in google. If after a week some of the lenses are still not indexed, I will start bookmarking them at some of the social bookmarking sites to help the process of getting indexed.  I like stumbleupon, or digg, or clipmarks.

Once my lens are indexed I will continue with the next step.

I was brainstorming today and came up with an experiment that I am going to conduct. It is part experiment and part challenge, and I am going to document every step here so everyone can see what I am doing and the results that I am achieving. So here is the project details:

I am going to choose a Niche, and then choose 5 keywords that have a fairly good search volume but with little competition. I will then take those 5 keywords and build a seperate lens for each keyword at squidoo.com. After the lenses are built I am going to write 3 articles per day that contain between 300-500 words for a 30 day period and submit them to ezinearticles.com.  This will accumulate a total of 90 articles after a 30 day period that will have links pointing back to my squidoo pages.

I will spread the links between the 5 squidoo pages which will give them 18 links to each squidoo lens.  All of these lens will be pointing to one affiliate offer at clickbank.com.  I am curious how many sales I can make for a 30 day blitz on one affiliate offer.  

It might be a success and I might fall flat on my face, but the way I think, it will be a good learning experience for me and for those of you are following along.  If you feel up to the challenge, participate with me and let’s compare results.  Are you up to the challenge? Or are you like 90% of everybody else trying to make money on the Internet, and give up soon. Or run from things that take a bit of work to accomplish.

3 articles per day of only 300-500 words should only take about an hour to and hour and a half.  When the experiment is done we will have a fairly good idea of how much time we worked on the project versus how much income that we made.

So here is how I am going to do this without giving the specific Niche that I am targeting away.  When I refer to the Niche that I am working on, I will replace the actual Niches Name with “purple widgets”.  This will keep the Niche secret and keep others from copying exactly what I am doing and skewing the results.  Everything that I report that I am doing will actually be done, and the results including traffic I received and money I made will be actual figures and results that I achieved.

It will be easy for others following along, by just putting in the Niche that you all choose in the place of my “purple widgets”, everything else will be exactly the same.

So are you up for it?

First things First, before we start the actual 3 articles per day part of the challenge, lets get our lenses made on squidoo and published.

The first thing you should do is choose your Niche (make it small) in other words don’t choose Dog’s. Rather dig deep within Dogs for Dog Training, and then even deeper than that Pug Training and then maybe even deeper than that, “How to potty train a Pug”. See where I am going with this.  By choosing a tight Niche like this we are sure to get keywords that are easy pickings and able to get on the first page of Google fairly easily.

After you get your Niche chosen pick out 5 keywords related to that Niche and we will have the material needed to move forward and build or lenses on squidoo.com.

Some ideas to find some Niches are Magazines.com (Magazine covers are excellent for getting ideas for what’s Hot), Ebay Pulse (find out what people are buying on Ebay), Google Trends (Find out what people are searching for). After picking out a Broad topic, drill it down to get a tight laser focused niche to promote.  Next you will want to go to Clickbank.com and pick out a product that you can promote that is related to the Niche you chose.

I already have my niche “purple widgets” and my 5 keyword phrases - “what do purple widgets do”, “how to get rid of purple widgets”, How to spot a purple widget”, “purple widget options”, “What causes purple widgets” .  I have chosen purple widgets as a problem that needs to be taken care of. People with problems are looking for solutions, and that’s where you as a Internet Marketer come in to solve the problems.

Hopefully this will be a good education for all of us.  I want to re-emphasize.. I AM NOT A INTERNET MARKETING TEACHER. I am not qualified to teach.  I am just documenting my journey to go from making $0 to $100 a Day by the year 2010.  Just read what I have to say, Follow along if you would like, Copy me step by step, or Ignore everything I say, and don’t ever come back.  Those are your options.

It make no difference to me which option you choose.  Next post will be after I have got all of my squidoo lenses completed then I will come back here and announce the start of the 90 articles in 30 days challenge.

In the past I have written that I would never recommend anything to the readers of this blog, unless I had bought it and tried it out, and thought that it was a good source of information for beginners.  Since I created this blog, I have bought at least 15-20 ebooks on marketing and how to make money online.  And not once have I recommended any of them.

The reason being is that most make money courses that you find on the Internet that are being hyped up by so called gurus are a load of crap.  So let me be the sucker and try things out first before you spend your money.  Now I have recommended some physical products, one being Micro Niche Finder which I find an invaluable tool for finding low competition keywords and Niches.

I have also recommended some services such as Unique Article Wizard and Niche Blogging Network.  So out of those 3 things you will have a tool that will identify good keywords and niches, UAW will get you backlinks to your sites, and Niche Blogging Network will give you Niche content to fill your blogs with.

And now for the first time I would like to recommend a e-course.  I got it this past weekend and have read through it and started following the steps contained in it.  The course is called One Week Marketing Guide, and it takes you by the hand and gives you a daily checklist of things to do to start making money in Affiliate Marketing.  The great thing about OWMG is that it requires NO money to start with, because the course teaches you how to get some money flowing in using free resources. I absolutely love it, and it is well written and easy to understand.

As you read in my last post I had the biggest month  in April that I have ever had in Internet Marketing, and am starting to identify things that work, so that I can duplicate them.  One Week Marketing Guide gives you a set of steps to accomplish over a one week period, and when that week is up, you pick a new niche and do it all over again.

Having all of these free sites going to work for you adds up, while some will pay off big time,  others will fizzle out, but by using free resources, you are only out some time and not out of pocket.  The lady who wrote the book goes by Pot Pie Girl and has created a full time income, bringing in $200-$400 per day in Internet Marketing. Does that sound interesting to you?  Could you make ends meet on $400 per day?

Just follow the steps and don’t give up and you will get similar results. NO IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN IN ONE WEEK! It takes dedication and steady plugging at it to build up to those levels.  But with just a few hours per week you can make it happen.  Do you have the tenacity? How about the staying power? Patience?

If you truly want to be successful in Internet marketing, take it from someone who is on their way. Get the Guide and follow it to a T. You will get results. And once you do, duplicate it again and again.

Here we are at the beginning of May already with 4 of the 12 months under my belt in my goal to reach $100 per day online by the year 2010.  So I have 8 more months left to go, and boy does it seem like a very short time left.  Is there a chance that I might not make it to $100 a Day?  Of course there is, but in my opinion, highly unlikely.  Keeping a positive attitude and doing something every day to improve my chances is going to make it work.

So far I have 3 sites that I have started since January 1st when I started on this journey to make $100 a day in a semi-passive online income.  I am in the serious link building mode on two of the sites (which both are in the sandbox) and I have just started a 3rd with an aged domain that should start earning pretty quickly.  But I am still working on filling it with content.

So enough chatter let’s get to the earnings part and I think you will be surprised, I know I was especially with a strong rally in the last week of April.

Daily Average for April = $19.25

This is the record monthly earnings for this year so far, in fact this is an all time personal record in the few years that I have been marketing on the Internet.  Just $80.75 to go to meet my goal.  We will continue the same plan and continue to work hard in improving this amount in the month of May.

I recently had started two new niche sites, and had found some good keywords using Micro Niche Finder.  I bought the new domain names like I always do, and installed wordpress and filled them with content.  I then started the tedious process of building backlinks to them.  I have been trying out a new service called Unique Article Wizard. It is a bit pricey at $67 a month, but has been working very well. So far I have generated 78 backlinks to the first site and 98 to the second.

The problems I have ran into lately is Google’s Sandbox.  Now no one knows for sure what Google’s Sandbox really is, but I have an opinion of what I think it is.  Let me start by telling you what happened to my two sites.

For one of my sites, I made it to the first page of Google for the keyword that I was targeting, and stayed there for about a week.  Then out of the blue, my site was dropped like a hot potato and ended up on page 30 of Googles Index.   This is Google’s sandbox. Why does Google do this for new domains?  We can only speculate, but here is my take on it.

Googles obligation is to it’s advertisers, and the people who do searches using Googles search engine.  Ask yourself, when you search for Blue Widgets, do you want a page returned to you about Blue Widgets, or do you want a page that is titled Blue Widgets and full of Viagra Ads?  Of course you would want a information filled page about Blue Widgets.

So the purpose of Googles sandbox is to get rid of the tire kickers by placing the new sites in the sandbox for 3-6 months before awarding the real pages with a true Google listing.  This works to discourage spam sites and is a built in part of Googles Algorithm.

So for those of us who are intent on providing Google what they want (A site full of original unique content) it really sucks to have to wait to get out of the sandbox.  But we can speed the process up by posting frequently with original quality content and building backlinks to our site.  This might possibly cut our stay in the Sandbox down considerably.

Another thing that we can do to not even have our site go into the sandbox in the first place is to buy a aged domain.  Now of course we will have to pay more money for a domain name that has some age on it, and we don’t always get the exact domain name that we want, but it is worth being able to see our site stay in the search engine and not get cursed with the Sandbox Hotel Stay.

You can find aged domains all over the web, and a few of my favorite places are Sitepoint Forums, FreshDrop.net, DnForums,OldDomains.net. These are just a few that are out there. I recently paid $25 for a domain name that was 5 years old and already had a Page Rank of 3.  The PR was nice but the age of the domain was the most important to me. I had to pay about 3 times what I normally pay for a domain name, although in the 3-6 months I would have spent in the Sandbox, now I don’t have to and can make that and much more back.

I have said this before and will re-interate it.  Yes you can do Internet Marketing for free but I hope you have the patience to wait it out until you start making money. If you want to speed this process up and see results quicker, spend some money on your business, and buy some domain names and some tools like Micro Niche Finder, and UAW, to help yourself.  Still for less than $100 a month you can have your own business, do you know of a brick and mortar business that you can start for so cheap?  I guess No!

I have been contemplating this very post that you are reading right now lately.  I have been thinking of how I could tell the readers what specifically I have been doing to generate the earnings that I have been reporting in my Monthly earnings reports.  So without going into details about the specific subjects of my sites I have figured out how to give you some information that might be helpful.

Currently I have about 25 sites in total.  Now this is from about 4 years of trying to make a full time income online, so some sites are stagnant while others are barely keeping their heads above water.  Since I created this site, and made it a goal to go from $0 to $100 a day, I have re-focused and started to concentrate on one thing at a time.  My downfall in the past has been site promotion, I am great at picking niches, building sites, designing graphics, and writing articles.  My downfall is driving targeted traffic to my sites that convert into sales.

Realizing my weakness, I set off to find some experts in this field and see if I could tap in to some of their knowledge.  I am attempting some things right now to get targeted visitors and backlinks, but I don’t want to report about it now until I see if it is going to work.  There is no sense in wasting my time or yours if the methods produce no results, therefore I will hold off on this until I get some definite input as to the results.  Lets just say that I had to spend some money to learn and test these things I am doing now.

Right now I have been concentrating on a few different things.  Mainly I have two niche sites that have been newly created and I have foregone all other sites at this point to promote these two specific niche blogs.  I have managed to get them both indexed in Google in two weeks, one is doing pretty well, while the other has hit Googles sandbox and dropped from the first page to around the 30th page.  This is natural and I am kind of glad it happened so soon, because now I can start the work of bringing it back up the search engines.  If you do not know what Googles Sandbox is, just search for it.  Again I am not going to play the part of teacher on this site, merely the reporter to what is working for me and what is not.

The two sites that I am working on are the ones that I am utilizing the monthly fee promotion techniques to test out the results, and I will let you know if I have success with them, and If I do I will tell you what I am using.  Like I said before, I will NOT recommend anything on this site, unless I use it myself and it worked for me. Similar to Micro Niche Finder.  If you are not willing to spend money on this tool or another similar to find profitable keywords for the basis of setting up your sites,  Do yourself a favor and QUIT RIGHT NOW! It will save you a lot of frustration later.

So as it stands I have 2 adsense niche sites, that are strictly information, the only monetization is Google adsense.  They continually produce $1 a day of passive income.  They are not updated whatsoever, and each have about 10 pages of content, with no promotion.

I have 2 niche blogs that I am working on now that are not monetized at all, the reason is because I was waiting for them to be indexed before I add monetization.  This makes Google happier when they see only quality content with no advertising what so ever.  (Google does not want you to make money  LOL) or so it seems. As my earning reports detail, most of my earnings come from clickbank and commission junction.  Click bank is digital products, and CJ is physical products.  What do I sell?  Anything and everything that I think I can make a profit with.  Books, electronics, clothes, diet products, e-books, Amazon Kindle items, you name it I probably have tried it.  The best results is products that will solve someone’s problems, such as diet stuff or getting rid of (fill in the blank here).

The main thing is you want to have a diversity of sites, adsense sites, affiliate sites, blogs that you intend on re-selling, etc.  I am working on a few blogs also that are solely made for the point of turning around and selling to others.  This is called Blog Flipping.  I also write articles for others, but in the long run I want to get away from this (because it is like a job).  Recently I came across a step by step outline on how to sell things from Clickbank, using only Free websites and Blogs.  It is a 30 day plan of action, and will tell you exactly what to do each day.  I am up to day 10 so far on it and have made over $100 so far, but let me warn you..  It is not for the lazy, and consists of some hard work, and a lot of article writing.  In fact when you are finished with day 30, you will have over 90 articles written for your clickbank product you have chosen to promote.  This is not for the squeamish, but if you are interested you can get the outline by Clicking Newbies Workbook.

The thing about Making money on the internet is that most people think it is easy and that you can just set up a site, monetize it, and the money will start flowing in.  And when this doesn’t happen, the drop out rate is VERY high.  But this is a good thing for us serious internet marketers.  I am a masochist, it’s true.  Who do you know, would spend 4 years trying to make money and have only minimal success (and I mean real minimal like under $1000 a year minimal) and keep doing it?  Not many! But those of us who don’t give up are the ones who succeed.  This is the Internets natural way of weeding out the tire kickers, and keeping the serious marketers.

Another thing I will share with you that most people are not willing to do, Hang on to your hats this is going to be a shocker.  You MUST spend some money to make some money!  Yes it can be done spending no money, why do you think it has taken me 4 years with little results, because I refused to spend money, but now realize that it is a necessity.  Investing money into your Internet Marketing will provide you results much quicker.  Why do you think the drop out is so high?  No Results!

Internet marketing works like this, You start out with lots of work, long hours of hard tedious work with almost no results, yeah you might get lucky and catch a sale every once in a while, but it is the exception and not the norm.  After working a few hours a day for about 2 months with no results, how many do you think will continue?  Not many!  But it gets better. Later on your articles start to catch, the backlinks start to build, and visitors start visiting your site.  selling is a numbers game, the more visitors the better chance of a sale.  Most people will tell you 1 sale for every 100 visitors is a good average.  Take a look at the graphic I created to give you a visualization of how Internet marketing works, and you will understand why many people fail.

The hard work starts on the left of the chart, and is intensive and consists of long hours, while the results are almost non existent.  Slowly the lines will start to reverse themselves, as far as a time frame, it depends on each person and how much work and money they are willing to do and spend to make it happen.  Where the lines cross in the middle, in my honest opinion, is anywhere from 3-5 years.  Has this been the case for me?  Nope, I consider myself to be still way over on the left side.  I am not writing this post to discourage people from Internet Marketing, but rather giving you the straight scoop, and it sure is a different story than you hear from most of the gurus peddling their newest E-book that is going to make you millions in the first month.  They are counting on your gullibility, and are profiting big time from it.  Don’t fall for that shit!

Hard work and persistence is the only thing that will make you successful in Internet Marketing, if your not willing to do that, then you should go get a job and trade your time for a paycheck, meanwhile making your company’s owner rich and you barely making ends meet.  Some are followers and some are doers.  Will I make my goal of $100 a Day by 2010?  Maybe, and Maybe Not.  But at least I have a goal, Do you?  And I guarantee that if I don’t do it by 2010, I will most assuredly do it eventually, because what makes me different than 98% of all of the others, is that I DONT QUIT or GIVE UP!

Adsense: $35.35  I am just a little bit over $1 a day on my adsense site - so 99 more sites like this and the goal would be achieved, although putting all of our eggs in one basket is not a good idea, diversity is the key, not to mention there are other ways to get a bigger return on your work.

Clickbank: $75.67  I did well in Jan because of some movie sites I had, but those types of sites are for generating quick earnings, and then when the movie loses popularity the visits dry up.  But it is a good investment. $9 for a domain name and I made about $300 in total.  Good Trade-off!

Amazon: $15.00

Commission Junction:  $60.95

Ebay Affiliate: $0.55

Grand Total for January is: $187.52

This equals out to be $6.25 per day.  We have beat the Feb average, which wasn’t that difficult to do at a measly $5.95 per day and I have high hopes that we will beat March also next month.  Next post I will give you an idea without going into specific niches, about what I am doing to earn money and trying to reach the $100 a Day mark.

I have been working hard everyday in reaching my goal of one hundred dollars a day, but the problem is, I have been neglecting this site because of it.  I quickly got off of the path of the original intention of this site, right from the beginning no doubt.  This Blog was put together to document my journey in going from $0 to $100 a day in an online semi-passive income.

Semi-Passive, what is that?  Well passive is hands off, set and forget. That might be possible a few years down the road, but at first there is a lot of work involved building backlinks, and you just cannot set and forget from the beginning.  The hardest thing for me is getting visitors to my site.  I can come up with niches, do keyword research, design sites, and write original content articles, no problem.  This part comes easy for me.  But where I run up against a wall, is getting the targeted traffic to my site that converts into sales.

So let’s digress, I have gotten off the path of why this site was created, and started another learn how to make money online  website.  The problem with this concept is, how and the hell can I teach others how to make money online, when I cannot even make enough online myself?  Not to mention, why start another make money online website, when there are thousands of other people that are not making money online, but trying to teach others how to make money online, in hopes of peddling a e-book to them.

I realized 3 years ago for me, I did not want to market products to people who are marketing products to others.  In other words marketing to marketers. I think it is a total waste of time, selling people the next so-called gurus e-book, and I refuse to do it.  Rather the money is picking niche topics such as fishing, golfing, car parts, etc. and creating a niche blog site.  The people who are visiting sites like this are the buyers..  NOt the people looking for free information on how to make money online.

So as I said before, the site is now getting back on the path, that I originally intended it to be on, and that is documenting my journey in going from $0 to $100 dollars a day and letting people watch, and maybe get some ideas that will help them also do the same.  I will no longer be portraying myself as a teacher, but only as a reporter, of what worked and what didn’t.

Hopefully this will make this site somewhat unique, and set myself apart from the thousands of other how to make money online websites out there.  I don’t know how to make money online yet! But I am learning, and picking up new things everyday, and by recording my failures and successes, maybe some of you can pick up some new things also that will help you.

OK Back on Track and new Focus..  Not to mention, now I will not have to research new things to talk about on how to make money, and the posting to this site will become more frequent..

The last progress report that I did was for the first two weeks in January, and have not done any since, so I will update you in this post for January and February as to how I am coming along in meeting my goal of one hundred dollars a day ($100 a day).  Get a drink and some popcorn and lets get down to business.

This equals out to be $10.94 per day  we are 1/10th of the way to our goal this month but wait lets see what happened for the month of February.

This equals out to be $5.95 per day, a big drop from January, but no worries, this only proves to be more motivation to work even harder to achieve the goal of $100 a day.

Next step in setting up our  site to make money adsense, is ad placement, colors, and what performs the best.  The only way to find out this information on our site is by split testing adsense ads.  So what is split testing?  It is the process of trying out at least two different ads in the same location or in different locations, to see which one performs the best.

Split testing is the only way that a webmaster can tell without a doubt, the information to the question of what size, where at and what colors.

After doing a little searching around, I found many opinions as to what ad sizes and colors do best, and to start out with, I will let you in on the most popular answers to the questions of what size, what colors and where should our google adsense ads be placed.

• For starters you will want to place a Google search box above the banner on your website, if any of your visitors use the search box, and then click on a result from the search, you get paid.
• Next you will want to place a Large 250 X 250 square after the title of your post and before your content, from popular opinion, this is the best performing ad block, in the best location.
• Place a Google link unit above the vertical menu in your sidebar, (normally visitors will click the first link in this list right off the bat), which in turn….you guessed it, you get paid.
• Put a small 125 X 125 adsense block under your menu in the sidebar.
• And last but not least, places a 728 X 90 leaderboard add in your footer.

The layout of your site should not be no wider than 760px, most people recommend that the text of the ad units look like the text in your menu, but to stay safe with Google, make sure a space is left between the two, to make money adsense.

I think that 2 column layouts look and perform the best when it comes to Adsense sites.  KISS - keep it simple stupid, the simple sites that don’t distract your visitors with lots of bells and whistles always outperform the sites with lots of distractions.

Now getting back to split testing, here is a neat little script that you can use to randomly alternate between two adsense ads, and see which one is performing the best.

Make two ads in Google with different colors and create separate channels for both so you can tell in your stats which is getting the most clicks.

Replace your ad code that Google gives you in the script above that says adsense version 1 goes here, and the other where it says adsense version 2 goes here, and then copy and paste that whole script and adsense code into the proper place in your site to split test and make money adsense.

After a few weeks of testing you can put the one that performs the best in permanently.  Keep testing and tweaking to get your maximum clicks and maximum earnings.

There is no hard fast rule to which ads work the best, but by split testing for yourself, there will be no second guesses, sometimes colors that blend work the best, while other times colors that clash work the best.  See which works best for you. Welcome to another post on One Hundred Dollars a Day dot com, and now it is time to get our hands dirty and start putting together our first money making site and creating content that gets clicks.  I have chosen to use a Google Adsense Site as our first money making venture.  If you have been following along on the earlier posts, there are some steps that you should have completed by now.

• Chosen a Niche
• Bought a Domain Name

Now there are thousands of websites on the net that will teach you how to physically create a website, so I am not going to rehash that procedure, but I am going to show you design tips that will insure that you get the maximum clicks to your ads from the visitors to your site.  Check out these Free Website Templates to help get you started.

Let’s start with what an Adsense website is.  Now according to Google you are not allowed to create a website for the sole purpose of displaying Google Ads on it.  Many people can take this the wrong way, and basically what this means is, if there were no Adsense ads on the site would it still be a value to the visitors.  If the answer is no, then you are probably violating Googles terms of service.

The first thing that we want to do is start creating content that gets clicks and filling our newly created sites with Quality, Original Content.  I cannot stress the importance of the two words QUALITY and ORIGINAL.  Google provides a service to the people who pay for advertising on Google Adwords.  They would be a very bad ad network if they displayed their customers advertisements on crappy websites that provided no content to the visitors.

Below is a snapshot of my Google Adsense earnings from one website in the month of January 2009.  As you can see from the bottom number, I generated a total of $32.75.  Now just suppose I created  100 sites just like this on different topics?  Would $3,275 a month be enough to live on?  And the great thing about this, is it is set up and forget, passive income.

So your next step is to write five original articles on the niche that you have chosen to build a site around.  But I am not a writer you say..  There is always the choice of outsourcing the writing to others, normally you can find people to write articles for you for a fee of between $5 - $10 per article.  (Recently I started a Ghostwriting Service here at 100 a day, and for a limited time I will drop my prices to $4 per article for the first 5 people who contact me.  I will create 5 original articles that are between 300-400 words in length, and will be on the topic of any niche that you chose.  Just give me the topic and the keywords, and for a mere $20 you will have the 5 articles to fill your first adsense site)

There are three basic strategies on making money with adsense sites:

1. Optimize your pages, which we will go into detail after you get your articles written. Ad placement, colors, and the words on the site to increase the clicks that your visitors do.  We will cover which ad sizes and where to position them for maximum clicks.

2. Get more traffic. Simple Formula, the more visitors you get to your site, the more clicks that you will get on your ads.  The earning of $10 per month for every 500 visitors is not an uncommon ratio, and if you can get more traffic than that, then of course your averages will go up.

3. Build more pages and add to your site. If you have a site that is popular, you can just add onto that site. If you have other things you’d like to build sites about, then you can build more sites. Once you get going, your new sites will generally be a bit quicker to get going than your old ones, because you can link them into your old sites.

The real advantage to AdSense income is that it allows you to present sites on topics that you really enjoy. You don’t have to sell anything either!  And you don’t have any pressure of  that you must babysit the site at all times.

So here we are two week into the New Year and I wanted to make a post on the progress that we have made so far this year in terms of income.  I feel that posting some real results will in part keep me motivated and also will give the readers some motivation into knowing that money can be made in Marketing on the Internet.

Now this Blog was set up to teach others how to make money online, and also as a journal of my path in trying to go from $0 to $100 a day by the year 2010.  Obviously I cannot tell you the exact url’s of my sites that I have up, or people will either copy them, or try to compete on great niches and keywords that I have worked hard to find.

So without giving you the exact url’s we still can provide a good forum and discussion to help others in their quests to go from $0 to $100 a day, and I am always available to answer questions.  I don’t have all of the answers, but I do know where to go to get the answers.  So having said that here is the financial results 2 weeks into the new year.

Google Adsense:  $16.65

Clickbank: $111.98

Amazon: $1.73

For a 2 week Grand Total of  $130.36

That works out to a $8.69 per day.    So we have $91.31 more to go, to meet our goal!

Now anyone will tell you that Internet Marketing is fickle.  There will be some days that are way over your goal while other days will be way under your goal, so we will use a average for a months time to determine whether we meet our goals or not.

The next step in putting together our website is choosing and then registering domain names, or in other words your very own dot com.  Now if you have decided to go the free hosting route with Blogger or one of the others that I mentioned in the post “Website Hosting Reviews” then you can skip this post because it will not pertain to your situation.

Now the first choice for a domain name to register  will of course be one that includes your main keyword that you are targeting, in our case that will be “bratz dolls toys” so of course our first choice for a domain name will be bratzdollstoys.com.

To see if a domain name is available, you can go to one of the web hosting sites I talked about in my last post entitled  Webhosting Reviews, and use their search engine.  Type in the name that you are interested in and click search and it will let you know if it is available and give you the option to buy it (if it is available).  If it is not available normally it will return a list of similar domain names as suggestions for you to chose.

When I decide to purchase a domain name, I usually shop around to see who is running any specials, if I can find some coupon codes etc..  I always use Bluehost to host my domain names, but frequently get the domain names from many different places.  It is as simple as plugging in cheapest domain names into Google and seeing what you come up with.

Also you can try searching for domain name coupon codes and see if you can get any good deals.  Now we talked about .com’s being the most desirable, second to them I would recommend .org and .net.  These types of domain extensions seem to do better in the search engines than say .tv, .info etc.

Although depending on what I am doing with the website, sometimes I will get these types of names also.  Recently I bought a .info name for .99 cents at GoDaddy.  But this website will not depend on search engine traffic, so it will work just fine for what I need.

After you decide on a name and purchase it, which will cost you anywhere from .99 to $10 for a entire year.  Then you will have to set the name servers to the company that will be hosting your website (ie. Bluehost or Hostgator).  In the video below you will find how to search for a domain name, how to purchase it and then how to set your name servers.

Our next step after you choose your niche is to find keywords for the niche that you have chosen.  So lets keep this easy for everyone to understand…. keywords are tags that helps other people and the search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc. find your content.

You will notice that in the Web 2.0 world that we live in today, almost every site that you contribute content to, allows you to enter keywords or Tags to help facilitate people searching.  Whether it’s the Photo site Flickr, Myspace, Facebook, or Squidoo, you will find a place to enter keywords or Tags.

Now for how to find keywords for your niche.  In this example I am going to use the Niche Bratz Dolls, that we found on Google trends in the last post entitled “A journey begins with a single step“.  So before we start our keyword search, I want to give you some good Keyword Suggestion Tools to use.  There are some Free ones out there and there are some paid ones.  First I will give you some Free ones!

Free Keyword search

• Niche Bot Classic - lists alternative keyword suggestions, but it also breaks things down by major search engines and keyword phrases.  Downside is you have to enter a captcha code for each new search unless you register for free.

We find ourselves at the beginning of the trail, ready to take our first step towards the very realistic goal of making one hundred dollars a day on the Internet from the comfort of our homes.  I have decided to begin our money making endeavor with a niche site, monetized with Google Adsense.

This is definitely not a get rich quick way of making money on the Internet, but unless you win the lottery I don’t believe in get rich quick… Rather this is make a full time income online slowly.  I have choosen the Google Adsense route for our first money making endeavor, and the steps to create it will be the same as if we were starting out building an affiliate sales site.

Choosing keywords, Niches and Building the site is all  the same, whether you monetize it with Google Adsense or, you monetize it with affiliate sales.  So the first step will be choosing a topic for our newly to be created site.

Now I hear the phrase a lot, choose a topic that you are passionate about to start your money making adventure online..  I do not necessarily agree with this statement.  I have found that no matter what topic I choose, that after writing a few articles and researching it, I quickly become knowledgeable in the subject.

So rather than picking a topic that is enjoyable to me, I would rather pick a topic that is going to make me the most money, even if it is bio-degradable enema bags. (Hey there’s an idea)  So the first step that we need to undertake, is to find keywords that have a great potential for us to make money.

So the first step is keyword research, for a product or informational site.  Lets take a quick trip over to Google Trends and see what the hot search topic is right now.  As of (Dec 4 2008, 12:02am) the hottest search trend in the US on Google was Bratz Dolls.  

Another great place to check out what is hot in consumer minds is Ebay Pulse, which will tell you the hot search topics on Ebay at this very moment.  And as of (Dec 4 2008, 12:12am) the hottest search trend on Ebay is Nintendo Wii.

So there are some places to check out, the results change from hour to hour, so over the next few days start doing a little research and choose a Niche that you would like to create a website around, and then we will do some keyword research to see if what you chose is going to be worthwhile economically wise to spend some time on.
